The Castaldo® Moldmatic® System
A Revolution in Mold Making
Easy -- Simple -- Fast
Almost Automatic
Never Pack a Mold Frame Again! Never Cut Mold Locks Again!
Reduces Mold Making Time 50%
New Castaldo Ready Made Molds are the closest thing to automatic mold making! Merely remove the protective liner at the center of the mold, insert the model and vulcanize! Mold locks are pre-formed and separate automatically after vulcanization. The center of the mold is vulcanized and cut normally to allow total control and design freedom.
-
Mold locks are pre-manufactured.
-
Protective cloth keeps model area clean and ready for use.
-
Mold locks are made automatically during vulcanization.

Castaldo Moldmatic Mold Frames.
The Castaldo Moldmatic system depends on the extreme precision of the Castaldo Moldmatic mold frame to form mold locks automatically. Mold frames not designed for use with the Castaldo Moldmatic System will not produce satisfactory results.

Please note: The new Castaldo Moldmatic System consists of two parts: The prefabricated Ready Made Molds themselves and Moldmatic Mold Frames. The Ready Made Molds themselves can be used without special frames only in very limited circumstances and even then do not offer the full advantages of the entire system.
These molds can be used in ordinary flat mold frames only with extremely flat and simple pieces such as coins, coins bezels and very simple flat rings. Pieces with any height to speak of will cause the system to fail when using these simple mold frames.
One of the major advantages of this system is that mold frame packing is totally eliminated when the entire system is used, that is, when both the molds and the mold frames are used together. |

Instructions For Use
A. Simple Pieces, Flat Pieces
1. Peel off protective lining on one section of mold and place in mold frame.
2. Place model in position on bottom section.
3. If desired, place sprue hole former in position.
4. Peel off protective lining on top section of mold and place in mold frame.
5. Place plunger on top of rubber.
6. Place frame in vulcanizing press set at 307°F/152°C
7. Close press until firm contact is made with plunger.
8. DO NOT PRESS PLUNGER COMPLETELY LEVEL WITH TOP OF MOLD FRAME!
9. Vulcanize as required (3/4" or 19 mm = 45 min, 1" or 25 mm = 60 min, 1 1/4" or 32 mm = 75 min, 1 1/2 or 38 mm = 90 min) (See Castaldo technical bulletin for further details)
10. DO NOT CONTINUE TO TIGHTEN VULCANIZER DURING VULCANIZATION.
11. Upon completion, remove mold frame from vulcanizer and plunge into cold water for 10 seconds. Loosen nuts and remove mold from frame.
12. Run fingernail, screwdriver tip or similar object around seam between top and bottom halves, starting from sprue hole. This works best when mold is hot but can also be done after mold has cooled.
13. Pull open edge of mold all around - mold locks are formed automatically!!!
14. Cut center of mold as usual after mold has cooled.
B. Three Dimensional Pieces, Difficult Pieces
1. Proceed as above, placing model between top and bottom sections of the mold.
2. Press lightly to create an impression of the model in both halves.
3. Remove top piece and model.
4. With a sharp knife, cut slits in top and bottom sections of rubber to accommodate model features marked by impressions.
5. For rings with large bezels or significant undercuts take one extra piece of rubber and place inside ring shank.
6. Replace bottom of mold in frame. Place model in appropriate position and align with slits. Place top of mold in proper position and align with slits.
7. Place in vulcanizer as above, taking care not to over-tighten vulcanizer.
